Yet another rookie quarterback is starting in the NFL. And no, it’s still not No. 1 overall pick Jared Goff.
This time it’s Broncos first-round pick Paxton Lynch, who will start Sunday against the Falcons, according to Mike Klis of KUSA.
The plan in Denver was that Trevor Siemian would start if the non-throwing shoulder injury he suffered last week healed in time. But Siemian’s shoulder is still hurting him, and now the Broncos are hoping he’ll be good to go for Thursday night against the Chargers.
Of course, it’s possible that Lynch could play well enough on Sunday against the Falcons to earn the job even if Siemian gets healthy by Thursday. Siemian has been a pleasant surprise this season, but the Broncos eventually expect Lynch to be their starter.
Lynch played well in relief of Siemian last week completing 14 of 24 passes for 170 yards.
