Ravens linebacker Ray Lewis won’t be back on the field for Sunday’s season finale against the Bengals, but he is back on the active roster.

The Ravens have moved Lewis from short-term injured reserve to the 53-man roster, but they have already announced that he will not play Sunday.

Lewis had to be activated this week if he was going to be able to play in the playoffs, and the Ravens’ hope has been that Lewis could get back on the field in the postseason. That still appears possible.

Lewis suffered a triceps tear in Week Six and has been out since then. There has been talk that the injury could have been season-ending, and there has also been talk that Lewis could retire this offseason. But it’s looking good for Lewis to get at least one more game, on January 5 or 6 when the Ravens host either the Bengals or Colts in the playoffs.
