The Lions listed running back Reggie Bush as questionable on Friday, but that seemed a bit optimistic given the fact that Bush missed the entire week of practice with an ankle injury.

That sense was a sound one. PFT has learned, via a league source, that Bush will not play against the Cardinals on Sunday afternoon. It will be the third game that he’s missed so far this season.

The development is one that you could see coming during the week. Coach Jim Caldwell said the team was considering sitting Bush down until his nagging ankle injury was much closer to 100 percent, something that paid off for them when wide receiver Calvin Johnson returned in strong form against the Dolphins last weekend.

Joique Bell and Theo Riddick will get the work in the backfield for the Lions in Arizona as the two teams square off for at least a week’s worth of bragging rights as the top team in the NFC.
