The Bears have reportedly taken a look at a recent second-round pick.
The club had ex-Lions tailback Mikel Leshoure in for a tryout on Tuesday, according to Brad Biggs of the Chicago Tribune.
The 24-year-old Leshoure rushed for 807 yards and nine TDs on 217 carries in three seasons with Detroit (2011-2013). The University of Illinois product missed his entire rookie season with an Achilles tendon injury, then became a starter in 2012. However, Leshoure (6-0, 233) was a deep reserve last season, and the Lions waived him this August.
In-season workouts are common for clubs and don’t always lead to immediate signings. The Bears made no roster moves Tuesday, per the NFL’s transactions.
The Bears currently have three backs on the roster: Matt Forte, Ka’Deem Carey and Senorise Perry. They do not have a tailback on the practice squad.
