Report: Rams have discussed trading for McNabb

If the St. Louis Rams trade for one of the Philadelphia Eagles’ quarterbacks, most people assume that quarterback will be Michael Vick. But a report out today says that quarterback might actually be Donovan McNabb.

Bryan Burwell of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports, citing “more than one well-informed source,” that “the Rams have had intense internal conversations with the Philadelphia Eagles about a trade for Pro Bowler Donovan McNabb.”

Burwell’s report is a bit confusing, especially the part about “internal conversations with the Philadelphia Eagles.” If the conversations were “internal,” then how could they have been “with the Philadelphia Eagles”?

It’s also worth noting that Burwell’s colleague Bernie Miklasz pronounced himself “skeptical” of Burwell’s report. And Miklasz tweeted that Rams coach Steve Spagnuolo denied having any conversations with the Eagles about McNabb.

But while there’s room for confusion in the phrasing and room for skepticism about how likely McNabb is to end up in St. Louis, Burwell’s report doesn’t leave much wiggle room on its fundamental point: Multiple well-informed sources say the Rams have discussed trading for McNabb.
