Injured Browns quarterback Robert Griffin III could be out 10-12 weeks and potentially miss the rest of the season, ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Sunday.
Griffin has a fractured coracoid bone in his left shoulder after taking a hit in the fourth quarter of last week’s season opener. He’s not currently slated for surgery, and initial reports said he would be out 8-10 weeks and could return late in the season.
Though Griffin signed a two-year deal with the Browns, there’s no guarantee he’ll be back next season. The Browns would carry just $1.75 million in dead money in 2017 if they release him after the season.
Josh McCown is now starting for the Browns, with rookie Cody Kessler as his backup and rookie Kevin Hogan on the practice squad.
