RETURN OF THE DOOKIE

The Steelers have opted for the devil (or, as the case may be, hamper gremlin) they know instead of one they don’t. With Willie Parker gone for now and Rashard Mendenhall gone for the rest of the year, running back Najeh Davenport has been re-signed. The man known in these parts as “Dookie” spent 2006 and 2007 with the Steelers, and was cut in August after Mendenhall was drafted. Davenport appeared in 28 games, starting one, during his two years in Pittsburgh. He has 1,788 career rushing yards, with an average of 4.7 yards per carry.
