The Associated Press will have all the votes in for the 2009 NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year award on Wednesday.
The voters have been given an 11 a.m. Wednesday deadline, according to the Buffalo Bills’ web site, which has taken a close interest in the matter because Bills safety Jairus Byrd came in second in the original voting.
UPDATE: The e-mail sent to the 50 Associated Press voters actually said the deadline is noon Wednesday.
Texans linebacker Brian Cushing came in first, and the revelation that he failed a performance-enhancing drug test in September led the A.P. to decide to have a re-vote.
Cushing won the first time around in a landslide, receiving 39 of 50 votes. He might still win it the second time around, as the A.P. says it has already received some votes for Cushing.
One such voter is John McClain of the Houston Chronicle, who says he voted for Cushing before and will do it again.
Byrd got six votes on the January ballot, Clay Matthews got three and Brian Orakpo got two.
