Being in the right place at the right time continues to be a problem for Texans quarterback Ryan Mallettt.

Mallett missed a practice in training camp after learning Brian Hoyer would be starting in Week One because he overslept and he left the sideline before the end of the first half a couple of weeks ago after he was replaced by Hoyer during a loss to the Colts. This week’s installment of Mallett not being where he’s supposed to be took place on the team’s flight to Miami.

John McClain of the Houston Chronicle reports that Mallett missed the team charter ahead of Sunday’s game against the Dolphins. He wound up taking a commercial flight to join the team in Florida.

McClain offers no reason for Mallett’s absence from the flight, but it’s not a good look for Mallett unless there was a serious personal emergency to blame. He’ll be in uniform Sunday as the Texans don’t have another quarterback to back up Hoyer on their 53-man roster, but the Texans may opt for a more reliable option than Mallett at some point in the future.
