Should we do a mock draft?

Draft

I’ve been wrestling for the past few weeks with the question of whether to do a mock draft this year. Not long ago, abandoning the mock draft concept would have been inconceivable. Now, with everyone and their brother’s mother’s basement dweller doing a mock draft, does it make sense to add to the noise?

On one hand, we’ve got access to real scouts who help compile the pretend picks. The mock draft also provides a useful framework for conversation and debate. On the other hand, mock drafts are everywhere. And if we try to be edgy or unique or do anything other than cut cookies with the picks, the draft snobs react as if we’ve treated the Dead Sea Scrolls like Charmin Ultra Soft.

It’s pointless (but for the quest for clicks) to do a mock draft before free agency, since the additions and subtractions both fill and create needs. Is it pointless to do one now, with the draft less than four weeks away?
