Teams “scared to death” about Friday memo

scared-teen

It surely was no coincidence that the NFL dropped the hammer on its teams on Friday, issuing a memo that directly contradicts the new free-agency rules that were established months ago.

And the strongly-worded message from the Commissioner has gotten the attention of teams, at least for now.

Negotiations are occurring, but most teams are insisting for now upon discretion because they are “scared to death,” according to a source who currently is negotiating with multiple teams regarding multiple free agents.

These are the same teams that have blatantly been negotiating with agents for free agents in clear violation of the rules for weeks if not longer. But one well-timed threat has worked, so far.

Of course, the Chiefs don’t seem to be overly concerned.

Hopefully, other teams won’t be. Because I’m rested and full of caffeine and I really don’t have anything else to do.
