This week’s main event: Revis vs. Megatron

The biggest positive in the Jets’ 9-0 loss to the Packers last Sunday was the apparent return to health by Jets cornerback Darrelle Revis.

After staying on one side of the field in the first half, Revis mostly tracked Packers No. 1 wideout Greg Jennings in the second half, according to Manish Mehta of the New York Daily News. Revis was beat on a double move that Aaron Rodgers missed, but otherwise Revis looked much closer to his 2009 form than he has all year.

This week, Revis gets the ultimate test for whether he’s truly all the way back: Calvin Johnson. It’s a matchup of perhaps the best two nicknames in football.

“Why do they call him Megatron?” Revis asked. “He transforms into a Megatron, huh? I guess. I don’t know.”

Johnson has battled an ankle injury this season but still has eight touchdowns. He didn’t want to be drawn into a hype-fest for his matchup with Revis, ignoring Rex Ryan’s compliments about Johnson and Revis this week.

“He can say what he wants. I’m not going to respond to it . . . I don’t have it in me,"Johnson said via Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press.

We’ll let his teammate Nate Burleson do the talking, then.

“If you’re bold enough to give us single-high safety, then let’s have some fun.”
