TITANS FRANCHISE SCAIFE

The Tennessee Titans placed the non -exclusive franchise tag on tight end Bo Scaife today, according to Adam Caplan of Scout.com. Scaife will count $4.462 million against the 2009 salary cap. Citing a source, Caplan reports that negotiations went on until late Thursday morning before the decision was made to use the franchise tag. However, the two sides didn’t get close enough to strike a deal. Adam Schefter of NFL Network reported Wednesday night that Scaife was expected to be designated as the Titans’ franchise player. According to Caplan, the Titans remain between $20 million and $21 million under the salary cap. Scaife led Tennessee with 58 catches for 561 yards and two touchdowns last season.
