Patriots quarterback Tom Brady appears in a new Foot Locker commercial that has become an avenue for channeling his lingering frustration over DeflateGate into comedy. The commercial has been worth every penny and then some for Foot Locker (have we mentioned it’s a Foot Locker commercial?); the question is whether Brady got what he wanted from the experience.
“I don’t know exactly what was going through my mind when I made the decision,” Brady said Wednesday, via the Boston Herald. “I’ve had a lot of different opportunities over the years and some I’ve chosen to do, and some I haven’t. I’ve been in a very fortunate position to be able to choose the things that I do. I had a lot of free time on my hands at the beginning of the year, so I had to find ways to fill it.”
He definitely filled it. But it really wasn’t a joke. Although the delivery was clearly over the top, it surely matches the intense feelings he undoubtedly has about having four games of his career taken permanently away from him.
And if he wants to dabble in comedy, he can do another cameo in a movie involving a man and a stuffed bear who want to take something other than football games permanently away from him.
