Tom Coughlin might not know when to expect Giants wide receiver Victor Cruz back.
But Cruz himself has an idea.
Via Ralph Vacchiano of the New York Daily News, Cruz said “after the bye looks like a promising date” for his return.
The Giants have two more games before their Nov. 22 bye, and if Cruz’s schedule holds, he could potentially return for the Nov. 29 game against Washington.
Cruz has been out of all but part of one practice because of a calf strain, after rehabbing last year’s knee injury. Cruz said he started running today, and that his calf had healed and his latest MRI was clean.
“It’s just a matter of how I feel,” Cruz said.
Getting Cruz back for the final six games could be crucial, as the NFC East is just waiting for someone to become good at football and win it. The Giants are leading the way at 4-4, but with the 3-4 Cowboys expecting a post-Thanksgiving bounce with the return of Tony Romo, and the rest of the division showing occasional signs of competence, it could be an interesting race.
