The Vikings kept safety Andrew Sendejo in the fold ahead of free agency and they’ve also struck a deal to hold onto one of their defensive linemen.
According to multiple reports, the Vikings and defensive tackle Kenrick Ellis have agreed on a one-year deal that will keep Ellis off the open market. Ellis and Sendejo were two of the 14 Vikings players set to become unrestricted free agents on Wednesday.
Ellis signed with the Vikings in October after Shamar Stephen was placed on injured reserve and went on to play nine games for the team as a backup up front. Ellis spent last offseason and preseason with the Giants and returned to the team briefly after being cut in early September, but never played any games with the team in the regular season.
Ellis was a third-round pick of the Jets in 2011 and played 47 games with the team before departing as a free agent.
