Hall of Fame quarterback Warren Moon is a good friend and longtime teammate of Titans coach Mike Munchak, and he knows Munchak trusts his opinion.

And the opinion Moon is sharing with Munchak is that the Titans should draft Cam Newton.

“I think now it’s about time I reach out to him and let him in on Cam,’' Moon told Jim Wyatt of the Tennessean. “Now I have no idea what Mike is thinking as far as where he wants to go, but I know they don’t have a (quarterback) right now and I know this guy is going to be special. I’m just going to tell him what I know as he tries to make his decision.’'

Moon has been serving as an adviser to Newton, and he says he sees a lot of himself in Newton. So he’s giving Munchak a personal endorsement of Newton.

“I think Munch respects me and I think he respects my opinion and I think he would feel like I wouldn’t associate myself with somebody unless I really felt like they had a chance to be good or great,” Moon said. “There are a lot of other guys I could probably work with but this guy is special.”

The bad news for the Titans, who have the eighth pick in the first round, is that one of the teams drafting in the first seven picks thinks Newton is special, too.
