Reports earlier this week indicated that Brian Westbrook would have to suffer a setback not to play this week against the 49ers.
Either those reports were wrong, or Westbrook has suffered a setback.
Eagles coach Andy Reid confirmed Friday that Westbrook has been ruled out for Sunday’s game because he hasn’t been medically cleared to play.
Wideout Jeremy Maclin is also out with a foot injury, as expected. Reggie Brown will start in Maclin’s place, although Kevin Curtis is expected to see his first action since Week Two off the bench. Tight end Brent Celek returned to practice Friday and should be available Sunday.
As the weeks drag on and the forecasts seem to change depending on the day, it’s worth wondering if Westbrook will play again this season.
