    Colts released DT Raekwon Davis.
Davis signed a two-year deal with the Colts last offseason. The fifth-year tackle appeared in all 17 games but never made a start while playing 349 defensive snaps, per PFF. Davis totaled just 15 tackles and one TFL while failing to record a sack, and has seen his tackle numbers decline each of the last three seasons. Davis doesn’t profile as an every-down tackle, but should have something to offer in the run game as a rotational player wherever he lands next.
  • IND Defensive Tackle #98
Colts agreed to terms with DT Raekwon Davis, formerly of the Colts, on a two-year, $14 million contract.
It’s yet another blow for a Dolphins defensive line that also lost Christian Wilkins this week. That being said, 2020 second-rounder Davis spent most of his time in Miami mostly absorbing snaps as opposed to being a difference-maker. He was better under Vic Fangio in 2023 after earning horrendous Pro Football Focus marks in 2021-22. He nevertheless profiles as a rotational option in Indy as opposed to linchpin.
  • FA Defensive Tackle #98
Dolphins placed DL Raekwon Davis on injured reserve with a knee injury.
Davis played just five snaps before suffering a knee injury in the Dolphins’ Week 1 victory over the Patriots. It’s a hit to Miami’s run defense, as the second-year pro was arguably their best defensive lineman against the ground game. Davis is out for a minimum of three weeks. John Jenkins should fill his role in the meantime.

  • FA Defensive Tackle #98
Dolphins signed second-round DT Raekwon Davis to a four-year contract.
The No. 56 overall pick, Davis (6’6/311) was a three-year starting defensive end at Alabama, earning first-team All-SEC honors as a sophomore (8.5 sacks, 10.0 TFLs) before a subsequent two-year regression. His lengthy frame is mostly a negative to his game and prevents him from winning with first-step burst as a pass-rusher, but his maturity and lack of production are bigger issues. He only totaled 2.0 sacks and 8.5 TFLs during his junior and senior seasons. If Davis buys in, he has the strength to be a quality run-stopping starter in the NFL, but he is a low-floor gamble considering how early he was picked last month.

Dolphins selected Alabama DT Raekwon Davis with the No. 56 overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

NFL Media draft analyst Lance Zierlein wrote that Alabama DT Raekwon Davis is an “elite two-gapper who sets a strong edge” in his analysis of the Crimson Tide standout.
Davis (6'7/312) does have some concerns to address during the pre-draft process, as Zierlein also wrote that some scouts have concerns regarding his maturity. And after wreaking havoc during his first season in Tuscaloosa, he wasn’t as productive from a statistical standpoint. But the physical tools are there, with Zierlein projecting Davis to be a Day 1 selection come April. “Despite possessing unique traits and the potential to dominate, his upside could be a moving target based upon maturity level and continued growth as a rusher,” Zierlein wrote. Other draft analysts have projected Davis to be a Day 2 selection, and if that turns out to be the case he won’t be on the board very long.

Alabama HC Nick Saban said DT Raekwon Davis called him for advice before pulling out of the Senior Bowl late with an ankle injury.
“Raekwon called me on Saturday and said ‘I’m still a little injured -- my ankle’s still bothering me,’ and I said ‘Look, it’s a simple decision. If you can go create value for yourself because you’re healthy (enough), you need to go play because it’s a great opportunity for you. If you don’t feel like you can do that, don’t play, but make sure you let them know so they can get somebody else,’” Saban said. Davis (6'7/305) had a big make-good opportunity in Mobile after early-career promise made way to a havoc-lite final two years in Tuscaloosa. He’s now considered a Day 2 prospect.

Alabama senior DT Raekwon Davis accepted an invitation to play in the Reese’s Senior Bowl.
Davis (6'7/305) will assuredly be one of the more heavily-scouted players in Mobile this January; assuming he’s healthy enough to play. He has dealt with an ankle injury as of late, but it doesn’t appear to be a serious one. Davis has tantalized with talent, but really hasn’t put it all together in his four seasons with the Crimson Tide. A quality showing in Mobile will help scouts put that in the past; for the most part, anyway.

Alabama senior DT Raekwon Davis (ankle) has been practicing and is considered “good to go,” per HC Nick Saban.
Davis (6'7/305) was said to be day-to-day earlier this week, so it seems like that approach has led them to believe he can play this Saturday. He missed last week’s game against Western Carolina. Davis is a key contributor up front for the Tide and has racked up 37 tackles this year.
