Cardinals signed CB Rashad Fenton, formerly of the Falcons, to a one-year contract.
After being acquired by the Falcons at the trade deadline for a conditional seventh-round pick, Fenton played just 66 defensive snaps for the Falcons in two games. Fenton has a history as a starter and is a decent low-risk gamble for the Cardinals, but he isn’t exactly an inspiring replacement for Byron Murphy.

Falcons acquired CB Rashad Fenton from the Chiefs for a conditional seventh-round pick.
Fenton had played 74% of the snaps in every game from Week 1 to Week 5 and had 500+ defensive snaps in each of the last two seasons for Kansas City, but he was replaced by their youth at cornerback. The Falcons, badly in need of depth at the position with Casey Hayward and A.J. Terrell dealing with injuries, get someone with some actual experience to help bolster the position. This reads like a decent move for Atlanta, though Fenton is a pure rental as he’s in the final season of his rookie deal.

  • IND Cornerback #7
Chiefs CB Charvarius Ward fractured his hand in Kansas City’s Week 1 win over the Texans.
Ward will get a second opinion to determine how much time he’ll miss. It’s a downgrade to Kansas City’s secondary after Ward played 94 percent of snaps last year. Rashad Fenton replaced Ward on Thursday night and looks likely to start in Week 2.

Chiefs selected South Carolina CB Rashad Fenton with the No. 201 overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft.
Via the Athletic’s Dan Brugler, Fenton is a composed athlete with the quickness to stick with any type of receiver, but his grabby hands and questionable mental process are potential road blocks to his pro future. Like all sixth-round picks, Fenton is a tossup to make the roster.
