The Broncos reportedly attempted to deal RT Ryan Harris before last season’s trade deadline.
They talked trade with the Raiders, Bills, Redskins, Texans, and Bears. Of those teams, the Bears “had the strongest possibility” of acquiring Harris. A six-week ankle injury likely scuttled Chicago’s plans to strike a deal. Harris is due to hit free agency this offseason. The Broncos have made it clear that he’s not a priority, so expect them to move on at right tackle.
  • Broncos signed OT Ryan Harris, formerly of the Eagles.
Harris, 27 in March, was released at final cuts in Philly with an injury settlement after undergoing back surgery. Following Chris Kuper’s injury, Harris will serve as depth during what may be a short-lived Denver playoff run.
  • Texans signed OT Ryan Harris, formerly of the Broncos.
Harris was released on Friday. He’ll be returning to a zone-blocking scheme in Houston, and could be a legitimate threat to Derek Newton’s right tackle job.
  • The Vikings worked out free agent OT Ryan Harris on Thursday.
Harris was amongst the Eagles’ final cuts last month after his ever troublesome back held him out for a majority of training camp. He’d provide solid depth along Minnesota’s shaky offensive line if healthy, but there’s currently little reason to believe he’d be able to stay on the field.
  • Texans re-signed OT Ryan Harris to a one-year contract.
Harris, 28, played in 16 games last season, starting two. Pro Football Focus graded him out positively as a pass blocker and in the screen game, but as a slight liability against the run. Harris is an athlete whose natural fit is in a zone-blocking scheme. He’ll likely serve as solid depth behind Derek Newton at right tackle.
  • Texans LT Duane Brown (toe) has been ruled out for Sunday’s Week 3 game against the Ravens.
Brown is battling a “pretty bad case” of turf toe and didn’t practice at all this week. Ryan Harris will get the start on Matt Schaub’s blind side. Terrell Suggs will be lining up opposite Harris all afternoon long.
  • Texans LT Duane Brown (toe) is inactive for Week 4 versus Seattle.
Ryan Harris will get the start on Matt Schaub’s blind side for the second consecutive week against another team with loads of pass rushers. Harris allowed three hurries and a quarterback hit against Terrelle Suggs last week. He’ll see plenty of Chris Clemons, who is making his season debut, this week. Also inactive for the Texans are QB Case Keenum, WR Lestar Jean, ILB Tim Dobbins, OL Cody White, DE Sam Montgomery, and DE Tim Jamison.
  • Texans LT Duane Brown revealed that he injured his right big toe in Sunday’s overtime win over the Titans and may miss Week 3 at Baltimore.
“Injured my right big toe,” Brown said. “It’s a pretty bad case of turf toe. Just taking it one day at a time, see how it heals by the end of the week.” Brown added that it “looks like” he’ll be a game-time decision for Sunday’s tilt with the Ravens. Brown graded out as Pro Football Focus’ No. 2 left tackle last season. His loss would be a huge one. If Brown sits out, Ryan Harris will fill in. Terrell Suggs plays the right edge, so Harris would be in for a long day.
  • Steelers placed OT Ryan Harris (shin) on injured reserve.
Harris will be shut down with his Week 4 shin injury. With Marcus Gilbert (ankle) sidelined, the Steelers will likely start RT Chris Hubbard against the Jets.
  • Steelers OT Ryan Harris retired from the NFL after 10 seasons.
Harris entered the NFL as a 2007 third-round pick of the Broncos. He spent the first four seasons of his career in Denver, making 34 starts, and then came back to the Broncos in 2015 to start all 16 games and win the Super Bowl. Harris also appeared in 53 games for the Texans, Chiefs, and Steelers. He had one year left on his contract in Pittsburgh at $1.9 million.
