    Saints released RB Cam Akers.
Akers and Kendre Miller battled for position this preseason, and Akers ended up being the odd man out. The Saints also waived P James Burnip, WR Roderick Daniels Jr., WR Moochie Dixon, DL Jasheen Davis, DE Jeremiah Martin, DE Omari Thomas, OT Josiah Ezirimand, OT Jonathan Mendoza, TE Seth Green, OG Kyle Hergel and Tyreem Powell, and released TE Michael Jacobson and OL Mike Panasiuk.
  • FA Tight End #42
Former redshirt senior Minnesota TE Seth Green transferred to Houston.
Green (6'4/240) was initially recruited as a three-star quarterback who was rated as the ninth best dual-threat QB from the 2016 prep cycle. The jack of all trades completed six-of-seven passes for 57 yards, three touchdowns and an interception, rushed 114 times for 388 yards and fifteen touchdowns and caught six passes for 83 yards over the course of his career. He will join Christian Trahan to form a solid tight end duo for the Cougars.

Minnesota redshirt senior TE Seth Green entered the transfer portal.

His ability to line up anywhere should serve his eventual new team quite well.

  • FA Tight End #42
Minnesota redshirt junior ATH Seth Green ran for 34 yards and two touchdowns on six carries in a 52-10 blowout win over Maryland on Saturday.
You know what’s going to happen when Seth Green is in the backfield. That doesn’t mean you’re going to stop it. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound TE/RB/goal-line monster scored touchdowns from 10 and one-yards out, respectively, and he helped the undefeated Gophers pick up 323 yards on the ground on Saturday. Green should get more chances at touches inside the red zone against Penn State after a bye on November 9.
  • FA Tight End #42
Minnesota redshirt junior ATH Seth Green is expected to be more involved with Zack Annexstad sidelined.
Green (6'4/240) is spending more time at quarterback now, but he should be limited to Wildcat work during games. When he did that last year, it was effective. Green scored eight touchdowns while powering his way into the end zone on Wildcat snaps. In college fantasy football leagues, Green is listed as a tight end, which could be a hack for really deep leagues if he takes over goal line work again.
  • FA Tight End #42
Minnesota redshirt junior ATH Seth Green is a player “the staff will look to again to get creative with in this offense.”
Green (6'4/240) is a cheat code/punt option for those playing in deep college fantasy football leagues. Listed as a tight end, Green plays in a jack of all trades role for the Golden Gophers and provides some touchdown equity as a unique goalline option. Expect to see Green at wildcat, at running back, at tight end, and even at quarterback throughout the season.

Minnesota redshirt junior TE/RB Seth Green is working through an injury to his right foot.
Green (6'3/205) did not practice on Tuesday, just his latest missed practice this spring as he continues to rehab. Consider the redshirt junior day-to-day for the time being. The Gophers transitioned Green from quarterback to tight end last offseason and saw time in the Wildcat last season.

Seth Green flipped his commitment from Oregon and signed with Minnesota in December.
“I felt as if that wasn’t as good of a situation or ideal place, and then Minnesota was my top choice,” Green said. “I felt very at home here, obviously, and felt like it was a great situation for me to not only come in and be successful hopefully in the future but also grow and develop a lot as a player and person.” The 6-foot-3, 205-pound Green, also recruited by Alabama, Michigan State, Louisville, Texas and Wisconsin, is a four-star recruit. Green will battle incumbent QB Mitch Leidner and backup QB Demry Croft, ranked the No. 28 dual-threat quarterback in the nation by Rivals coming out last year, for snaps. “Green is a player that is very skilled athletically and his arm talent has upside,” notes ESPN. “However, he is a bit raw and his skill set needs to be honed and polished to become more consistent in his methods. Size and athleticism will be attractive early on in the process.”

Minnesota coach PJ Fleck announced that redshirt sophomore Seth Green is being moved from QB to TE.
Green was a highly-recruited signal-caller that was rated four stars by many outlets, but hasn’t had a chance to see the field for Minnesota sans one appearance against Middle Tennessee State last year. He’s a quality athlete, and at 6-foot-3, 205-pounds, he has the size to be a threat over the middle. Fleck also mentioned that Green could see time at wide receiver, so this is a very interesting development as the Golden Gophers try and compete in the Big Ten in 2018.

Minnesota redshirt sophomore TE/RB Seth Green ran for 30 yards and two touchdowns on 11 carries in a 21-14 victory over Fresno State on Saturday.
Green has now scored four touchdown in the first two games of the year after scoring twice in the rout of New Mexico State in the opener. At 6-foot-4, 240-pounds, Green is tough to tackle, and he showed as much on both of his scores to avoid a loss to Fresno State. With Rodney Smith possibly out for a bit, it’s possible Green will get even more carries going forward. We should see him get goal line touches at the minimum against Miami (OH) next Saturday.
