Commanders agreed to terms with DT Tim Settle, formerly of the Texans, on a three-year, $24 million contract.
Settle was enjoying a great season for the Texans in 2025 before suffering a Lisfranc injury in December. This is a strong commitment in light of that fact, and Settle may be rehabbing for most of the offseason. Settle had a career-high 78.0 PFF pass rush grade for the Texans in 2025 and returns to the team that drafted him in 2018.
  • HOU Defensive Tackle #98
NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo reports Texans DL Tim Settle (foot) will miss the remainder of the season.
Garafolo notes that Settle should be recovered ahead of the 2026 season. Settle posted a career-best 71.3 PFF defense grade, posting 16 hurries in 215 pass rush snaps in the middle. He’ll turn 29 ahead of next season and should have a rotational interior role somewhere in the league.
  • HOU Defensive Tackle #99
Texans agreed to terms with DT Tim Settle, formerly of the Bills, on a two-year contract.
Settle totaled 14 tackles and one sack last season with the Bills while plying on a career-high 380 defensive snaps. The veteran defensive tackle could play a larger role in a Texans defense that recently traded Maliek Collins to the 49ers.

ESPN’s Field Yates reports the Bills have cleared $600k in cap space through a restructured contract with DL Tim Settle.
Settle signed a two-year deal with the organization prior to the 2022 season after playing four seasons with the Commanders. He played in all but one game a season ago, but the athletic defensive lineman remains a situational player for the Bills, accounting for more than a 50% snap rate in only four games.

Bills agreed to terms with DT Tim Settle, formerly of the Commanders, on a two-year contract.
Settle is still just 24 years old and was widely hyped as one of this year’s top under-the-radar free agents. Settle played 20% of the defensive snaps for Washington last season, but the Football Team just had so much talent up front that it was difficult to crack the rotation. Settle had five sacks in 2020 on 33% of the downs. It’s an upside signing for the Bills.

  • FA Defensive Lineman #93
Redskins DT Jonathan Allen is considered week to week with a sprained MCL suffered in Sunday’s Week 1 loss to the Eagles.
Allen will undergo an MRI Monday, which should confirm his diagnosis. Without him, the Redskins will turn to 2018 fifth-rounder Tim Settle at nose tackle. Allen was held without a tackle on seven snaps before exiting Sunday’s opener.

Redskins selected Virginia Tech DT Tim Settle with the No. 163 overall pick in the 2018 NFL draft.
Settle (6’3/329) went pro as a redshirt sophomore after emerging as the Hokies’ starting nose tackle in 2017, breaking out for 12.5 tackles for loss and four sacks to earn second-team All-ACC. Settle showed surprising pocket-pushing ability for his hefty size, recording 46 QB pressures in just a two-year career. Settle is a mere second-percentile SPARQ athlete, however, and his initial NFL role will be to plug the run. Not yet 21 – he turns in July – Settle maintains a high ceiling as a wide-bodied space eater with room for pass-rush growth.
