Colts selected Alabama DT Tim Smith with the No. 190 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft.
A five-year trench warrior from Tuscaloosa, Tim Smith enters the 2025 NFL Draft with 65 games under his belt and the lunch-pail mentality scouts covet. A versatile defender who aligned from the nose to five tech in Kane Wommack’s 4-2-5 front, Smith won with stoutness and savvy rather than splash. His career totals (6.5 sacks, 17 TFLs) don’t leap off the page, but his steady hand and tape reliability do. Smith’s 4.44 RAS confirms what you see—solid but unspectacular. He’s not twitchy (1.82 10-yard, 23-inch vert), but uses heavy hands and good pad leverage to anchor and control blocks. His 76.4 PFF tackling grade led to just a 9.7 percent missed tackle rate in 2024. While his pass-rush ceiling is capped, Smith can stack, shed, and wall off lanes in even fronts. He fits the mold of a rotational early-down run stuffer with scheme versatility and dependable traits.
