Willie Roaf was downgraded from probable to questionable on the team’s injury report.
Roaf, who has had problems stemming from gout, is listed as having an ankle injury. This isn’t the best news for Larry Johnson.
  • The AP reports Chiefs GM Carl Peterson plans to meet with Willie Roaf in hopes of persuading the veteran All-Pro to not retire.
“People do change their minds,” Peterson said. Kyle Turley is currently Kansas City’s starting left tackle.
  • Willie Roaf turned down a chance to have a proper retirement press conference.
While we’re probably looking too far into things, Roaf may be leaving the door slightly open to return after August. The Chiefs are doing everything they can to change his mind.
  • Willie Roaf insisted Wednesday that he will not play in 2006.
“I’m not one of those guys who’s going to miss all the camp and then come back and play football,” Roaf said. Interestingly, he left open the possibility of returning next season. “I’m done right now,” he said. “I can’t say never say never... But this year, I’m done.”
  • Willie Roaf will return for his 13th NFL season in 2005.
Both he and Will Shields, possible Hall-of-Famers, will be back next season for the Chiefs. If the Chiefs can make their defense average, they should return to the playoffs.
  • The Chiefs are reportedly preparing to play without LT Willie Roaf (hamstring) this week.
Roaf left Sunday’s game with a strained hamstring. One of the best left tackles in football, his absence could be trouble for Trent Green.
  • Willie Roaf came out of week one’s game with a hamstring injury in the first quarter.
Jordan Black, who was starting at right tackle, moved over for Roaf and Chris Bober came in at right tackle. Coach Dick Vermeil said he doubted Roaf would be ready for next week’s game at Oakland.
  • Willie Roaf (hamstring) is questionable for week two.
Coach Dick Vermeil did indicate that Roaf’s health is improving, but his status is still unknown. Jordan Black will replace him if he’s unable to go.
  • Chiefs declared T Willie Roaf, QB Damon Huard, T Will Svitek, T Jeremy Parquet, WR Marc Boerigter, DT Ryan Sims, DE Carlos Hall, and LB Keyaron Fox inactive for Monday Night’s game.
We’ll be watching Trent Green’s protection closely with Roaf out. It didn’t hurt much last week. Boerigter is buried on the receiver depth chart. Sims and Fox are both seriously injury.
  • LT Willie Roaf (hamstring) is likely questionable for Monday’s game against the Raiders.
“I would say he would still be questionable,” coach Dick Vermeil said. “But he’s making progress.”
