Video: Roberto Luongo looks to change his NHL reputation with a Stanley Cup
Roberto Luongo has had a wild up and down career in the NHL. From being drafted by the Islanders then dealt to Florida and then subsequently landing in Vancouver, his pro career has seen some wild changes. He started out as the future franchise goalie in Long Island before being ushered out thanks to the Isles drafting Rick DiPietro. In Florida, Luongo put up stellar numbers while backstopping some bad Panthers teams.
Now in Vancouver, he’s earning loads of accolades including a Vezina finalist spot this year in helping the Canucks to the Presidents’ Trophy. In the playoffs, however, Luongo’s had his fair share of issues, most of which are Chicago-related. While Luongo was able to help Team Canada win a gold medal in the 2010 Olympics in front of the home town fans in Vancouver, the Stanley Cup eludes him. Should he help the Canucks win that this year, his legacy in Vancouver would be sealed for good.
