With track still to start, it’s easy to forget that the Olympics are really Usain Bolt’s oyster.
The Jamaican sprinter/living legend reminded the world of that fact on Monday during a whirlwind press conference that closed with his dancing off stage with a bevy of Brazilian dancers.
Here’s the thing, though: Even though Bolt has been slowed by a hamstring injury, he’s still aiming for the lofty goal he set so long ago. The soon-to-be 30-year-old wants to move his 19.12 world record into a sub-19 world record.
From NBCOlympics.com:“I really, really, really want that one,” Bolt said.
And going after dreams is the main message he wants people to take away from his career.
“For me, it’s always to work toward your goal,” he said. “It’s a hard road. Never let anyone tell you you can’t do it.”
We shouldn’t be too surprised -- This is a man who wants to play for Manchester United -- and, American glory aside, let’s hope he still has that kind of speed in his legs. We’re prepared to be entertained, Usain!
