All four Kazakhstan weightlifters who won gold medals at the London Games tested positive for anabolic steroids in recent retests of their 2012 Olympic samples and could be stripped of their titles.

Ten London Olympic weightlifters overall failed retests and were given indefinite provisional suspensions, the International Weightlifting Federation said Wednesday.

Included were Kazakh gold medalists Ilya Ilyin (men’s 94kg), Zulfiya Chinshanlo (women’s 53kg), Maiya Maneza (women’s 63kg) and Svetlana Podobedova (women’s 75kg).

Also included was Russian silver medalist Apti Aukhadov (men’s 85kg), Ukraine bronze medalist Yuliya Kalina (women’s 58kg) and Belarus bronze medalist Maryna Shkermankova (women’s 69kg).

In all, medals in seven of the 15 London Olympic weightlifting classes could be redistributed as a result of Wednesday’s announcement.
