    Shawn Morimando has signed a contract with the CTBC Brothers of Taiwan’s Chinese Professional Baseball League.
    This will be Morimando’s third stint with the CTBC Brothers after spending the summer pitching for the SSG Landers of the Korean Baseball Organization. The 30-year-old southpaw had a 2.56 ERA and 1.19 WHIP across 91 1/3 innings in the CPBL and a 1.67 ERA and 1.06 WHIP across 75 1/3 innings in the KBO.

    Shawn Morimando has re-signed a one-year contract with the CTBC Brothers of Taiwan’s Chinese Professional Baseball League.
    Morimando latched on in the CPBL last October after making four major-league appearances with the Marlins during the 2021 campaign. The 29-year-old left-hander allowed 11 runs on 18 hits with a 9/5 K/BB ratio across 10 1/3 innings (four appearances, one start). He also logged 19 appearances (16 starts) at Triple-A Jacksonville before being released in early October. A minor-league journeyman at this stage of his career, he’ll look to build up his value overseas next year.

    Morimando spent most of the season at Triple-A Jacksonville, but wound up allowing 11 runs on 18 hits with a 9/5 K/BB ratio across 10 1/3 innings (four appearances) at the big-league level with the Marlins. The 28-year-old lefty will search for a new opportunity in free agency.

    Morimando came in after Anthony Bass pitched the first inning. The scoreless outing lowered his career ERA from 16.88 to 8.71; he had previously given up six runs in 4 2/3 innings for the Indians in 2016 and four runs in two-thirds of an inning for the Marlins this year.
