The only American to play at four World Cups, DaMarcus Beasley has retired from the U.S. national team at the age of 32.
Beasley made his U.S. debut in 2001 and has made 121 appearances for the Stars and Stripes, his last coming as a late sub as the USA lost to Colombia at Craven Cottage back in November. Beasely has won four Gold Cups as he captained the team to success in 2014 and scored 17 goals during his national team career.

He has locked down the left back role over the past two years for the USA after spending most of his glittering USMNT career as a winger but was recently converted into a defender by Jurgen Klinsmann and excelled by playing in all four games at left back during the 2014 World Cup.
The former Chicago Fire, PSV Eindhoven, Glasgow Rangers, Hannover, and Puebla man returned to MLS in 2014 with the Houston Dynamo and although many would have expected this retirement to come in the next few years, it has come a little earlier than expected. The Indiana native scored more UEFA Champions League goals than any other American player in history and won domestic titles in the U.S., Scotland and Holland during his club career which is still going on in MLS.
Beasley made the announcement via his Instagram page on Monday, as the Houston Dynamo man sent out the following heartfelt message to reflect on his USMNT career.
