Frank Lampard could be fit to play in City’s match vs. West Ham

Even though Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard missed the club’s mid-week Champions League game against CSKA Moscow, it’s possible that the veteran will take the pitch two days from now vs. West Ham, a report from PA Sport has detailed.

Manchester City midfielder Frank Lampard was carried off the field in the 28th minute of a Premier League match against Tottenham Hotspur last Saturday. He’s currently nursing a thigh muscle injury.

The Englishman has played exceptionally well for City on the offensive attack, netting four goals in six matches. He’s buried most of these scores in a timely fashion, too, including a debut finish against his former squad Chelsea.

Manchester boss Manuel Pellegrini has relished Lampard’s fine form.

“For me it is maybe not a surprise because I know his quality.

“When you are the age of Frank Lampard you are not able to play three games in a week but when you have so great a player, you can resolve a lot of problems that we have during the game and I think that Frank is doing these duties at this moment. I am very happy with him.”

The possibility of extending his loan from new Major League Soccer team New York City FC has arisen, but nothing has been confirmed regarding his stay. He’s set to head back to the U.S. in January, while the MLS regular season starts in March.
