Italy’s World Cup provisional squad is loaded, so who got snubbed?

Andrea Pirlo

FILE - In this June 25, 2012 file photo, Italy’s Andrea Pirlo reacts during a penalty shootout during the Euro 2012 soccer championship quarterfinal match between England and Italy in Kiev, Ukraine. Four years ago, the Azzurri went to the World Cup warm-up tournament in South Africa as world champions and went home after the first round. A year later, at the 2010 World Cup, Italy again was eliminated after the group stage. Expect Italy to treat the Confederations Cup more seriously this time. (AP Photo/Matthias Schrader, File)

Italy’s powerful unit for World Cup 2014 in Brazil will be without Sunderland’s Emanuele Giaccherini, Liverpool’s Fabio Borini, Juventus’ Dani Osvaldo and Zenit’s Domenico Criscito on a heavily-Serie A provisional roster.
