Martinez fumes after “unacceptable” penalty on Stones dooms Everton

Roberto Martinez didn’t like the penalty call on John Stones after the English back hacked down Marko Arnautovic late in Stoke City’s 4-3 win over Everton on Monday at Goodison Park.

Stones went to ground and may’ve got a stud on the ball, but cleared out Arnautovic.

It looked like the Stoke man had clearly beaten Stones, and the back needed to get a clear piece of the ball after such a dramatic challenge.

His boss didn’t think so. From the BBC:

“You have to be very sure sure to make a decision like that. Looking at the replay it shows John Stones touches the ball. That decision is hard to take. To get a decision wrong like that so late in the game makes you feel furious and is unacceptable.”

Looked close to stone cold from our angle. What did you think?
