Ah, these are the rivalry matches we want so late in a season, ones that can move the Top Four around and shatter unlikely hopes at a Premier League title run.
Liverpool heads to the Emirates Stadium for a high-profile Saturday bout with Arsenal to kick-off the PL weekend at 7:45 a.m. ET on NBCSN (Stream with Live Extra here), and there’s plenty to like about the matchup.

The Reds are six points behind Arsenal on the Premier League table, but a win would do much more than close the gap to three; Liverpool could hurt Arsenal’s already poor odds of catching Chelsea.
Both clubs are near the top of the form table, with the only loss for either coming in Liverpool’s most recent match at Manchester United (and you can thanks Steven Gerrard’s red card for a large part of that setback).
Arsenal has won six straight matches since a 2-1 loss to Spurs at White Hart Lane.

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger on facing the Reds: “It’s a big game and an opportunity for us to continue our run, which is what we want to do. We are on a strong run and we just want to focus on winning our games, winning the next one. Liverpool is a big opponent but we play at the Emirates and we want to do it. You know after the international break it’s always important that you come back and straight away you are on it.”
Liverpool’s Lucas Leiva on the task at hand: “Of course losing could open the gap too much but I think we’ve showed this season when we are playing well we can play against any team. We remember the semi-finals against Chelsea and I know we ended up losing the game after extra-time, but I think we created a lot of chances to win the game and we should take that into the Emirates against Arsenal.”
Prediction
Arsenal’s in a rich vein of form that includes their bittersweet 2-0 win against Monaco in the UEFA Champions League, but Liverpool will be smarting after season its hot run cooled off, in part by Gerrard’s stamp. The sides drew 2-2 at Liverpool, and we think it’ll look much the same at the Emirates. Call it 2-2 again.
