Report: Tottenham launch appeal over Harry Kane goal

Christian Eriksen and Tottenham retained their strong position in the top four with a 2-1 win over Stoke City.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly launched an appeal with the Premier League to have a goal awarded to Harry Kane instead of Christian Eriksen.

At the weekend Spurs’ second goal at Stoke in their 2-1 win was initially given to Kane but replays showed that he may not have got a touch on Eriksen’s cross and the goal was then awarded to Eriksen, his second of the game.

Take a look at the video above to work out for yourself if Kane got a slight touch off his shoulder on the ball from Eriksen.

However, Sky Sports in the UK are reporting that Spurs want the goal awarded to Kane rather than Eriksen and have appealed to the PL.

Kane, 24, has been out injured for the past few weeks and has slipped five goals behind Mohamed Salah in the race to be the top goalscorer in the Premier League.

The Tottenham and England star has won the Golden Boot in each of the last two PL seasons and with six games to go he obviously fancies his chances of hunting down Salah to win a third-straight award.

Some are questioning why Tottenham and Kane are so worried about this and others are questioning why Kane isn’t just happy enough that his team won to all but secure their place in the top four of the Premier League.
