Newcastle United play host to Manchester United on Wednesday (Watch live, 2:45 p.m. ET online via Live Extra) in a Boxing Day rematch.

When the two sides last met in late December, Manchester United cruised to a 3-1 win in a convincing showing at Old Trafford. But a lot has changed since then, and the Magpies will be looking to turn the tables on the Red Devils in front of the home crowd at St. James’ Park.

John Carver was Alan Pardew’s assistant back on Boxing Day, but now he’s the man in charge. With Newcastle effectively safe from relegation yet not in contention for a berth in European play, Carver can have a go at Manchester United and try to take all three points.

For Louis van Gaal and Manchester United, the game has much bigger implications. The Red Devils currently sit in fourth place, but are feeling the pressure from surging Liverpool and Tottenham. Luckily for Van Gaal, Wayne Rooney has gotten back to his goalscoring ways, and has scored more Premier League goals against Newcastle (12) than any other opponent.

Newcastle United: Krul, Janmaat, Coloccini, Williamson, R.Taylor, Obertan, Sissoko, Abeid, Ameobi, Rivière, Cissé. Subs: Woodman, Satka, Anita, Gutierrez, Gouffran, Armstrong, Perez.

Manchester United: De Gea, Valencia, Smalling, Evans, Rojo, Blind, Herrera, Di Maria, Fellaini, Young, Rooney. Subs: Lindegaard, Jones, McNair, Carrick, Mata, Januzaj, Falcao.
