Green Bay and New England have volleyed this pick back and forth. The Patriots will now receive picks Nos. 197, 224, and 235 in return. Manning was a productive blitzing linebacker with the Wolfpack, showing fluid athleticism and sideline-to-sideline range. The red flags are medical, as Manning had multiple college knee injuries. He projects best as a 4-3 weakside linebacker. The Packers will likely move Manning to the inside.

Manning played on the weak side in N.C. State’s 4-3, but will move back inside in the Packers’ 3-4. If not for concerns about multiple knee surgeries, Manning easily could’ve been a day-two pick. He’ll be competing with D.J. Smith and Rob Francois for reps behinds starters A.J. Hawk and Desmond Bishop.

The biggest concern for Manning has been his medical after multiple college knee injuries, but it appears he’s passed those tests. Manning is an incredibly active playmaker on tape, with an explosive burst and a knack for shooting through “trash.” He’d fit well as a weak-side ‘backer in a 4-3 defense.

Manning didn’t play a defensive snap in his NFL debut. He doesn’t have enough time to get cleared for Thursday’s showdown with the Bears, but will likely be ready for Week 3.

A fifth-round pick in 2012, Manning impressed on college film but battled colitis and knee problems in one season and two training camps with Green Bay. He’s replacing D.J. Smith on the Chargers’ roster.

Manning was a fifth-round pick last season. He was a solid special teams player last season after battling back from a parasitic infection.

A 2012 fifth-round pick of the Packers, Manning was claimed off waivers in September, but ended up appearing in only one game this season. Palmer was a “name” undrafted free agent last spring, but didn’t last on the 53-man roster. Williams was the No. 230 overall pick of the draft, getting into one game for the Colts.

Manning appeared in four games between the Bears and Giants last season. The 2012 sixth-rounder is running out of time in the league.

Manning looked like a promising prospect coming out of NC State in the 2012 draft, but has struggled with injuries and ineffectiveness in the two years since. With Jon Beason shelved, Manning will be in the mix for a roster spot.

Manning was waived on Monday after being signed to a futures deal in January. Likely just a roster filler, Manning was limited to one appearance in 2013.
