Seahawks signed No. 138 overall pick CB Tharold Simon to a four-year contract.
Simon (6-foot-2, 202) has the type of size the Seahawks covet in corners. With Seattle loaded at the position, Simon will serve as depth and compete for a role on special teams this year.

According to Seahawks coach Pete Carroll, rookie CB Tharold Simon is dealing with a “stress-fracture-looking thing” in his foot.
“He did practice with us and he looked really good,” Carroll said. “He could go full speed, but his foot still bothered him. It’s just something that hasn’t been attended to with the way we’re going to try to and see if we can make it go away.” Provided he’s healthy, Simon will look to nail down a special teams job in training camp.

Seahawks selected LSU CB Tharold Simon with the No. 138 overall pick.
Simon (6-foot-2, 202) took over as the Tigers’ No. 1 corner in 2012, following Mo Claiborne’s exit and Tyrann Mathieu’s dismissal. Simon recorded four interceptions as a 13-game starter, but showed hip tightness and does not change directions smoothly. He profiles as a press corner with plus size and straight-line speed (4.51). Simon would inevitably struggle in zones and off-man. He won’t have to do that in Seattle’s press-heavy scheme. Joining a loaded roster, Simon is being added for depth and potential special teams impact.

LSU CB Tharold Simon was arrested and charged with public intimidation, resisting an officer and unnecessary noise violation in his native Eunice, La. late Thursday evening.
Whoops. Considered a day-three prospect after skipping his senior season, Simon is now in danger of going undrafted. According to the police report, Simon “backed (his) vehicle in an aggressive manner” after being asked to move it out of the street, and told his arresting officer that he "(owned) Eunice.” Gobsmacking stupidity.

GM John Schneider said the Seahawks are “comfortable” with fifth-round rookie CB Tharold Simon’s legal situation.
Simon was arrested last Thursday night for public intimidation, resisting an officer and a noise violation. His attorneys are confident the charges will be dropped. Simon insists that the officers overreacted and he says he has 30 witnesses. We wouldn’t expect any league discipline to come down here -- especially because Simon wasn’t on a team when the incident went down.
  • FA Defensive Back #37
Seahawks placed rookie CB Tharold Simon on the reserve/PUP list.
Simon suffered a fractured foot at spring practices and never took a snap in the preseason or training camp. He’s eligible for activation in Week 7.
  • FA Defensive Back #37
Seahawks CB Tharold Simon recently had another foot surgery.
Simon missed his entire rookie campaign with injuries in both of his feet. It’s concerning that he’s still dealing with the issue six months later. The fifth-rounder will be trying to get right and win a job on special teams in training camp.
  • FA Defensive Back #37
Seahawks CB Tharold Simon (toe) has been a full participant in the offseason program.
Injuries have wrecked the 2013 fifth-rounder’s career to date, but Simon is getting first-team reps on defense with DeShawn Shead sidelined. “He’s doing everything,” coach Pete Carroll said. “This is a really good look at him, this is the best we have seen him. ... He’s going to have a great, competitive opportunity because he’s put together a great off-season.” Were Simon to beat out Shead for No. 3 cornerback duties, he would play on the boundary in nickel situations.

Cardinals claimed CB Tharold Simon off waivers from Seattle.
It’s a veteran flyer for the cornerback-needy Cardinals. Simon will push for a role behind Pat Peterson, Brandon Williams, and Justin Bethel.

    Seahawks waived CB Tharold Simon.
An oft-talked about prospect, Simon is a fourth-year pro who’s made only five career starts, all of which came in 2014. He was limited to one game by a toe injury last season, and has had major injury issues. Simon drew hyperbolic praise from Richard Sherman this summer, but is 25 with a résumé that doesn’t match the hype.
