Vikings signed South Carolina TE Trey Knox.
Knox (6’3/240) began his college career as a wide receiver at Arkansas. He totaled 28 receptions for 385 yards and three touchdowns as a rookie. After decreased usage in the following year, Knox transitioned to tight end amidst the 2021 season. His last college season saw 37 receptions for 312 yards and two touchdowns, earning a Second-Team All-SEC accolade from the SEC coaches. At the combine, Knox posted a 4.54 20-yard shuttle, the worst amongst participating tight ends. His speed and overall athleticism are far from the best in the class, but Knox’s blocking ability and receiving skills are tools to bank on at the next level. He could earn a spot on the Vikings roster as a special teamer this summer.
  • FA Tight End #41
Arkansas sophomore WR Trey Knox has been taking practice reps at tight end, according to HC Sam Pittman.
Knox (6'5/215) has been getting some looks at tight end, but Pittman made it clear that there has been no official position change. The Razorbacks have been a bit banged up at tight end, which likely factored into the coaching staff’s decision to give Knox a look. While he did appear in this past weekend’s win over Rice, the sophomore did not record any statistics. Arkansas will host former Southwest Conference (and future SEC) rival Texas this weekend.

  • FA Tight End #41
Arkansas freshman WR Trey Knox left Saturday’s 45-19 loss to Western Kentucky early due to an ankle injury.
Knox (6'5/205) did not catch a pass in the loss, and it is unknown how severe the ankle injury is. For the season, the freshman wide receiver has caught27 passes for 366 yards and two touchdowns.
  • FA Tight End #41
Arkansas freshman WR Trey Knox caught six passes for 90 yards and a score in Saturday’s 55-34 win over Colorado State.
HC Chad Morris is still working out the kinks in this year’s offense, but Knox looks to be a bright young pass-catcher for the Razorbacks. Knox put up almost an identical line last week (6-88-0), but the touchdown he tacked on this week was the first of his career. Arkansas will need Knox to continue balling out to keep the passing offense flowing.
  • FA Tight End #41
Arkansas freshman WR Trey Knox (illness) is expected to be able to play in Saturday’s opener against Portland State.
Knox (6'5/218) has been battling illness down the stretch in camp but appears to be coming around the corner with his sickness. The freshman has been receiving all kinds of offseason pub after signing with the program as a four-star recruit over the winter. He very much has the upside to make an immediate impact.
  • FA Tight End #41
Arkansas HC Chad Morris is hopeful that freshman WR Trey Knox (illness) will be able to return to practice on Saturday.
Knox (6'5/218) has been out sick all week long. Morris said on Thursday that it’s unlikely that the four-star freshman is unlikely to practice on Friday, but we’ll see on the weekend. He figures to be able to return to action next week even if he’s not quite ready for Saturday. Knox is expected to be an impact performer right out of the gate come the start of the season. Arkansas opens the fall campaign against Portland State on Aug. 31.
  • FA Tight End #41
Arkansas freshman WR Trey Knox (illness) did not participate in Wednesday’s practice.
Knox (6'5/218) has missed three consecutive practices due to illness. While there is no timetable for his return, he should presumably be able to rejoin his teammates on the field at some point either later this week or next. The concern with illness in a team setting is that it is very easy for germs to spread.

247Sports analyst Trey Biddy praised the size and quickness of Arkansas freshman WR Trey Knox.
Biddy writes that the 6-foot-5, 218-pound Knox “has a chance to emerge at some point as Arkansas’ go-to wide receiver.” Just when that point might be is the real question, here. While the four-star talent is looking more and more like a likely starter coming off a nice spring, he is part of a work-in-progress passing offense in the toughest defensive conference in the country. The transfers of Ben Hicks and Nick Starkel (whomever wins the starting QB job) should help just in terms of providing a little bit of consistency to the aerial game. Biddy notes that no Arkansas freshman has ever topped 37 receptions. We’ll be keeping that number in mind this coming season.
  • FA Tight End #41
Arkansas freshman WR Trey Knox has “worked his way into the starting lineup.”
The Athletic’s Jason Kersey praised Knox’s abilities and scheme fit in his “State of the Program” column, and he’s done enough early to warrant a starting spot. The former four-star recruit was a big get for Arkansas, and the coaching staff will admit that. In fact, Arkansas didn’t think Knox was going to sign after their visit together. With an experienced starting quarterback in Ben Hicks, Knox has a chance to put up some numbers in 2019 and he’s a receiver to keep an eye on if you’re into NFL scouting.

Uncommitted four-star 2019 WR Trey Knox was named the position MVP at the Rivals 3 Stripe Camp in St. Louis.
“Knox is just getting started on the national scene but if he can back up his showing in St. Louis with a big performance at the Rivals100 Five-Star Challenge he could establish himself as one of 2019’s best prospects, regardless of position,” write Rivals analysts Josh Helmholdt and Woody Wommack. They note that the 6-foot-5, 218-pounder “turned in one of the most impressive performances at any position on the entire [3 Stripe] camp series.” Florida and Ohio State are two teams to keep an eye on when it comes to Knox’s commitment, but there is still so much red carpet ahead of him before he hits National Signing Day in 2019 that his recruitment is almost certain to see its fair share of twists and turns over the next year-and-a-half.
