Chiefs selected Georgia Southern LB Ukeme Eligwe with the No. 183 overall pick in the 2017 NFL draft.
Eligwe (6'2/234) started his career as a top recruit at Florida State, winning a championship with the Seminoles in 2013, but he broke his foot in 2014 and was dismissed from the team the same year after violating team rules. He spent one year at Georgia Southern, earning honorable mention All-Sun Belt, leading the team with 11 tackles for loss and three forced fumbles. Eligwe figures to play inside in the Chiefs’ 3-4 and try to earn an initial role on special teams.
