    Vikings waived OT Willie Beavers.
Yikes. A fourth-round rookie, Beavers was the No. 121 overall pick of the draft. You have to really be unimpressive to get cut loose as a fourth-rounder. One of Beavers’ main issues coming out of Western Michigan was strength. The Vikes will presumably try to bulk him up on the practice squad.
  • Vikings promoted OL Willie Beavers from the practice squad.
The No. 121 overall pick of the draft, Beavers was a surprising release at final cuts. His promotion suggests LG Alex Boone (hip) could miss Week 4.
  • Vikings selected Western Michigan OT Willie Beavers with the No. 121 overall pick in the 2016 NFL draft.
Beavers (6'5/321) was a three-year starter for the Broncos, earning second-team All-MAC as a junior and first team as a senior. Beavers struggled when asked to play guard at the Senior Bowl, but offers right tackle potential with 34-inch arms and above-average short-area movement ability, posting a 4.75 short shuttle and 7.75 three-cone time at Western Michigan’s Pro Day. Beavers needs to get stronger and refine his technique, but he has an outside chance to develop into a Bobby Massie-level player.
