Panthers promoted OG Zack Williams from their practice squad and waived C Thomas Austin.
They’re just shuffling in different practice depth. Williams, a sixth-round pick out of UConn last year, missed his rookie season with a torn ACL.
  • Panthers waived OG Zachary Williams.
A 2011 sixth-round pick, Williams is recovering from his second torn ACL in as many years. He’ll look for practice-squad work once he’s back to full health.
  • Panthers placed OG Zack Williams on season-ending injured reserve.
Williams suffered a torn ACL in Week 15 versus the Chargers. A sixth-round pick out of UConn last year, Williams also missed his rookie season with a torn ACL. It’s not clear yet if the injury is to the same knee. Hayworth Hicks was signed off the Bucs’ practice squad to take Williams’ roster spot.
  • Panthers selected Washington State OG Zachary Williams with the No. 203 overall pick in the NFL draft.
Williams received an East-West Shrine invite and ran a 5.27 forty at the Combine with a 30" vertical and 28 reps on the bench. He is considered a mauler, but lacks the ideal size of a guard (6'3/307), and may have to convert to center in the pros. The Panthers have had a pretty unimpressive draft to date, and we have no reason to believe that Williams is going to save it.
  • Panthers placed OG Zack Williams (knee) on injured reserve, ending his season.
Williams, a sixth-round pick this year, tore his ACL in practice earlier this month. He’s a low-level prospect that was likely headed for the practice squad.
  • Panthers sixth-round OG Zack Williams tore his left ACL in practice this week.
He’ll undergo surgery on September 1. A two-year starter at Washington State, Williams saw action at both guard and center for the Cougars. He was a candidate for the practice squad before suffering the injury.
