Drew Rasmussen O/U 3.5 Strikeouts vs. Red Sox

Hello, Old Friend!

I did not expect to see Drew Rasmussen in the postseason as a starter, but I will gladly grab this Under on an NFL Sunday.

Rasmussen will be making his first career start in the postseason and second-ever appearance. He pitched 1.0 inning against the Dodgers as the closer last season. Rasmussen allowed one hit and grabbed two Ks over 21 pitches to seal the 4-2 win.

Rasmussen has pitched against Boston five times this year, three as a starter. In total, he sports a 2.30 ERA, .220 OBA, plus 14 strikeouts, 13 hits and five walks in 15.2 innings pitched.

In the three starts against the Red Sox, Rasmussen lasted 4.0 and 5.0 innings across all three for 13.0 innings total. In those 13.0 innings, he permitted an earned run in all three with nine hits in the past two.

Rasmussen was 2-1 to the Over 3.5 Ks versus Boston with two, four and five Ks.

He is 8-2 to the Under 3.5 strikeouts as a starter, per statmuse, and with this being his second-ever postseason appearance and first start -- not sure I could take the Over, even with his only two Overs being against Boston.

Before his three starts against Boston, he saw them twice this season in relief, which helped him.

On the season, Rasmussen is in the 44th percentile for whiff% and 52nd for K%, so not screaming bet the Over.

During 15.0 innings of day baseball, Rasmussen owns a 4.80 ERA on eight earned runs and 11 hits. He also has 17 strikeouts and 10 walks in those 15.0 innings.

He tosses the fastball 65% of the time and mixes in the slider 30%, per baseballsavant.com, so Boston should be reading between two pitches that they have seen plenty this season.

Against 10 Boston hitters, Rasmussen has 10 strikeouts in 53 plate appearances with 12 hits and five walks. Those 10 own a .199 batting average, but a lot of that is smoke and small dosages at a time.

The Red Sox know what they are up against with a chance to go up 2-1 in the series at home, I want the Under.

Like Shane Baz in Game 2, we could see Rasmussen pulled once things go south or used as an opener. Roll with Rasmussen’s Under 3.5 Ks.

I grabbed it at -140 and would play it out to -150.

Pick: Drew Rasmussen Under 3.5 Strikeouts (1u)
