Nick Kurtz had a two-run double and walked for a 19th consecutive game Thursday against the Royals.

Today’s walk was intentional, as the Royals put him on with none out and a runner on second in the seventh. It worked, too, since the A’s failed to score in the inning. Kurtz’s walk streak is tied for the third longest of all-time. Ted Williams also got to 19 in 1941. Roy Cullenbine holds the all-time record at 22 games in 1947, and Barry Bonds walked in 20 straight games between 2002 and ’03.
Jordan Walker

Jordan Walker smacked his ninth home run of the season in Thursday’s 10-5 victory over the Pirates on Thursday afternoon.

It was part of a two-hit, three-RBI game for the 23-year-old. Walker’s homer came off Paul Skenes in the first inning, just a few batters after JJ Wetherholt took him deep. Walker hadn’t homered since April 13th, and the strikeouts had been piling up lately, so this is a promising development. The swing-and-miss (plus his ground-ball rate) will continue to be what fantasy managers should track, since the bat speed and raw power are proven to play against major league pitching.
CJ Abrams

WSH Shortstop #5

CJ Abrams went 2-for-3 with a home run, a walk, and three RBI in the Nationals’ 5-4 victory over the Mets on Thursday afternoon.

Abrams’ homer was a go-ahead, two-run shot off Luke Weaver in the eighth. He knew it too, immediately pointing to the Washington dugout after making contact. It’s the continuation of what appears to be a breakout campaign for the 25-year-old shortstop. Abrams has simultaneously increased his barrel and walk rates while lowering his strikeout rate. He’s now Washington’s primary cleanup hitter after opening the season batting mostly fifth and sixth.
Framber Valdez

DET Starting Pitcher #59

Framber Valdez picked up his fifth quality start of 2026 on Thursday in Atlanta, striking out eight over six innings of two-run ball in the eventual 5-2 win.

Valdez allowed six hits and didn’t walk anyone for the first time this year, tossing 99 pitches in the outing. He was in line for the loss when exiting, but Detroit’s lineup went on to score four of its five runs against the Braves’ bullpen. This outing will go a long way toward improving his season-long K-BB%. He’ll face the Red Sox at home next time out.
Adley Rutschman

BAL Catcher #35

Adley Rutschman went 2-for-4 with a grand slam and another run scored as the Orioles slaughtered the Astros 10-3 in game one of a doubleheader on Thursday.

Hm, this Rutschman guy seems pretty good. He’s pushed his overall line to .356/.406/.661 on the season and has knocked in 17 runs in just 16 games. The talent was always there for lines like this despite woeful slashes in 2025 and 2024, but it’s great news for the Orioles that he’s apparently rediscovered his hitting talent. He’s already almost halfway to last year’s homer total of nine.
Justin Crawford

PHI Center Fielder #91

Justin Crawford went 3-for-4 with a walkoff single in the bottom of the ninth as the Phillies defeated the Giants 3-2 in game one of a doubleheader on Thursday.

One of Crawford’s three singles was a line drive. Another was a bunt with men on first and second with two outs. And, finally, his walkoff hit was a grounder deep in the hole that he beat out by a step. It hasn’t all been bad in Crawford’s first month in the majors — he’s hitting .267/.337/.349. But the speed has yet to translate into the sort of stolen bases that would make him fantasy-interesting. He was thrown out for the second time today and has just two steals so far.
Brandon Woodruff

MIL Starting Pitcher #53

Brandon Woodruff left his start against the Diamondbacks on Thursday in the second inning.

He’d allowed one hit and struck out two before leaving. Woodruff showed an alarming amount of diminished velocity, with his four-seamer averaging just 85.4 mph while topping out at 86.9 mph. Manager Pat Murphy said that Woodruff wasn’t feeling any pain, but that getting him out of the game felt like the right move. If this dead arm sort of issue leads to an IL stint, hopefully it won’t be a long one.
Andy Ibáñez

ATH 3rd Baseman #77

Mets claimed 3B Andy Ibáñez off waivers from the Athletics.

Ibáñez, hitting .118/.167/.118 through his first 18 plate appearances of the season with the Athletics, will fit right in with the Mets.
Vinnie Pasquantino

KC 1st Baseman #9

Vinnie Pasquantino (back) is not in the starting lineup for Thursday’s game against the Athletics.

That’s two days in a row off for Pasquantino since he left Tuesday’s game with lower back tightness. Salvador Perez is batting fourth and playing first base while Elias Díaz grabs a start against LHP Jeffrey Springs.
Tyler Soderstrom

ATH Left Fielder #21

Tyler Soderstrom (neck) is not in Sacramento’s starting lineup for Thursday’s game against the Royals.

He hasn’t played since being removed from Tuesday’s game in what Mark Kotsay said was “precautionary.” Colby Thomas is batting cleanup against LHP Noah Cameron. Brent Rooker (0-for-13 since returning from an oblique injury) is also sitting today, giving Shea Langeliers a DH day while Austin Wynns draws a start.
