The NFL season kicked off with the Hall of Fame game way back on August 4th with the Las Vegas Raiders knocking off the Jacksonville Jaguars 27-11.
In the six months since, the hopes of every NFL team and their fanbase has been crushed with the exception of two – the Philadelphia Eagles and the Kansas City Chiefs.
Sports books believed in the Chiefs but not the Eagles. Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs have been a betting favorite since the NFL Futures market opened this past offseason. Their odds to claim the Super Bowl and Lombardi Trophy have never been greater than 8:1 (+800) this season.
Nick Sirianni‘s team, however, opened the season as 40:1 (+4000) long shots.

From Super Bowl Long Shots to Favorites
The story of Kansas City’s odds is not worth discussing. The movement throughout the season as noted was minimal. The story of Jalen Hurts and the Eagles is a whole other kettle of fish.

The Eagles’ odds quickly dropped from 40:1 (+4000) preseason to 25:1 (+2500) following their Week 1 win against the Detroit Lions. The odds continued to drop precipitously through Week 8 when they hit 5:1 (+500). Anyone jumping on the bandwagon at that point is still in line to cash a nice ticket but nothing like those early season believers.
As we get set to start the mayhem that is Super Bowl week lets look at some of the bets available to the public for the Super Bowl.
Interesting Super Bowl Prop Bets
Which team will call the first timeout? Currently 69% of the public is expecting Kansas City to ask for time first on Super Sunday.
Will the opening kickoff be a touchback? 56% of the public is willing to lay some heavy juice (-145) on the notion that the opening kickoff WILL be a touchback.

How will the first points be scored in the Super Bowl? Only 10% of bettors believe the first score will be a touchdown (-200). 40% are betting on a safety (+3000). Half of all bettors are banking on the first score in the Super Bowl to be a field goal (+155).
Will the Super Bowl go into Overtime? The public is practically demanding it as 83% of the tickets are banking on OT (+800). Too much juice on No OT (-3000) to enjoy that play.
And as documented earlier this week, the coin toss is always a popular bet for the Big Game. 56% of the public is betting on tails (-105) and 51% are holding tickets on the Chiefs (-105) to win said flip.
