The lone game in the NHL on Monday is a battle in Montreal between the Jets and Canadiens.

Montreal has little to play for at this point in the season, yet Winnipeg is still fighting for their Stanley Cup Playoff lives.

Below you will find an overlay from tonight’s game that is available at PointsBet.

For those unfamiliar with the term “overlay,” it simply refers to odds that are higher than an outcome’s true probability.

For example, if an outcome has a 50% chance of happening, the correlating odds would be +100.

If the odds offered on that specific event are +150, or an implied probability of 40%, then the price would represent an overlay.

WINNIPEG JETS at MONTREAL CANADIENS

The postseason is looking less and less likely for the Winnipeg Jets, but they are still in with a chance in the Western Conference.

Currently seven points behind Dallas for the final Wild Card spot, the Jets enter tonight’s game at Bell Centre on the heels of a 4-3 victory over the Ottawa Senators in Ottawa last night.

The win snapped a four-game losing streak for Winnipeg, a stretch of play that could very well be their undoing.

Nonetheless, Dave Lowry’s team is still in with a chance, and despite Montreal’s recent run of feisty play, the Jets are still clearly the team to beat in tonight’s contest.

Despite being without Mark Scheifele and possibly Blake Wheeler for tonight’s game, Winnipeg is still preparing to play a Montreal team they dismantled five weeks ago, winning by a final score of 8-4 in Manitoba.

One would think there is a chance Connor Hellebuyck starts for the second time in two days given the Jets’ current standing, but even if backup Eric Comrie gets the nod, Winnipeg should be in decent shape.

Comrie was torched by the Toronto Maple Leafs in his last appearance, but his five games prior to that debacle were extremely impressive (5-0 record, .927 save percentage), suggesting he could bounce back against the Canadiens this evening.

Montreal has played a brutal schedule over the past three weeks, playing the likes of Toronto (twice), Florida (twice), Carolina, and Boston since March 21.

While the Jets are not of the same caliber, they are still a formidable opponent that can get the job done on the road tonight.

Based on my projections, the Jets defeat the Canadiens in Montreal by at least two goals 38.9% of the time (translates to odds of +157).

This would suggest that Winnipeg’s puck line price of +200 (implied probability of 33.3%) is worth gambling on.
