    C. Trent Rosencrans of the Cincinnati Enquirer reports that Brian O’Grady has signed on with the Hanwha Eagles in the Korea Baseball Organization.
The 30-year-old spent the 2022 season in Japan where he slashed just .211/.312/.380 with 15 homers and 46 RBI in 471 plate appearances. He’ll once again take the guaranteed money overseas as opposed to setting for a minor league contract and fighting for a job stateside.

Brian O’Grady has signed a contract with the Seibu Lions of Nippon Professional Baseball in Japan.
O’Grady was removed from the Padres’ 40-man roster earlier this offseason and wound up pursuing an opportunity overseas. The 29-year-old outfielder, who also appeared in 30 games with the Rays and Reds from 2019 to 2020, batted .157/.267/.333 with two homers across 61 plate appearances at the major-league level last season. He’s torn the cover off the ball in the upper minors, boasting a robust .284/.362/.551 triple-slash line across 978 plate appearances at the Triple-A level since 2018.

Padres sent OF Brian O’Grady outright to Triple-A El Paso.
O’Grady is off the Padres’ 40-man roster after hitting just .157/.267/.333 with two homers across 61 plate appearances at the big-league level this season. The 29-year-old outfielder should be able to find a new opportunity as extra position player depth if he chooses to elect free agency.

Padres optioned OF Brian O’Grady to Triple-A El Paso.
San Diego activated Fernando Tatis Jr. from the injured list and needed to create room on the active roster. O’Grady went 8-for-50 with two home runs at the major league level this season.

Padres recalled OF Brian O’Grady from Triple-A El Paso.
He’ll take the place of Jurickson Profar (COVID-19 IL) on the active roster. The 29-year-old has already appeared in 27 games for the Padres this season, slashing .182/.302/.386 with two homers and eight RBI in 54 plate appearances. He can continue to be ignored for fantasy purposes.

Brian O’Grady homered and drove in three runs Monday in a win over the Cubs.
O’Grady had just been promoted from Triple-A on Monday, and wasted no time in making an impact. He also drew a walk and singled in the contest. That homer is the first of the year, and it’s worth pointing out that O’Grady was hitting just .115/.250/.192 in 33 plate appearances before the call-up. He can remain on the waiver wire despite the nice game on Monday.

O’Grady has batted just .115/.250/.192 with no homers across 33 plate appearances this season. He’s unlikely to play much, although he is getting a start in right field Monday while Wil Myers gets a day off.
