For the second time in 14 months, Colorado State redshirt senior Gian Clavell has been arrested. He was charged with false imprisonment with a domestic violence enhancement.

He has been suspended indefinitely from all team activities, according to a statement from Colorado State athletic director Joe Parker, according to Kelly Lyell of The Coloradan.

“Clavell is suspended from all team activities indefinitely,” read a statement from CSU athletic director Joe Parker, citing the school’s student-athlete code of conduct, which calls for a suspension “pending further investigation” whenever an athlete “has been arrested or charged with a violation of criminal law.”

Erik Fisher, an attorney who is representing Clavell, said the basketball player allegedly grabbed his girlfriend’s backpack during an argument, preventing her from leaving because the backpack contained her keys. The domestic violence enhancement was added, he said, because the two are in a relationship.

He was arraigned on Wednesday.

In July 2015, Clavell was arrested and charged with false imprisonment with domestic violence enhancement and harassment, according to The Coloradan. Those charges were dropped months later. He returned to the team, but appeared in only 10 games, averaging 20.8 points, 6.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game, before having his season ended due to a hand injury. He received a medical redshirt from the NCAA.

The Rams open the 2016-17 season on Sunday against New Mexico State.
