Summer mixtape for nation’s top point guard Isaiah Briscoe (VIDEO)




Isaiah Briscoe might be the best point guard in the country.

A 6-foot-2 New Jersey native, Briscoe developed into a five-star prospect -- the No. 9 overall recruit in the country, according to Rivals -- over the course of the last year. He’s gotten into better shape and is now more explosive than he was a year ago.

More importantly, he’s shown that he can be a primary ball-handler, as he led the NJ Playaz to the EYBL title in July. The reason that I say Briscoe “might be the best point guard in the country” is that I’m still not completely convinced that he is a point guard. He needs the ball in his hands to be effective, creating off the dribble. He’s not overly explosive, but he’s quick and understands change of pace and change of direction. He’s a terrific -- and willing -- passer and unlike some of the other combo-guards in this class (Malik Newman, Tyler Dorsey, Allonzo Trier), he doesn’t have a score-first mentality.

But does that mean that he is a point guard at the college level, or simply a talented back court playmaker? I’m not sure, but what I do know is that whatever position he ends up playing, he’s going to be a productive piece for whatever coach he plays for:
