Ohio State added a brand new piece of hardware to its collection last Monday night with a College Football Playoff national championship victory over Oregon. As has become tradition, the championship trophy took a tour of its new community this weekend, allowing fans of the Buckeyes to get a photo taken with the new trophy to share with friends and family, post on Facebook and Twitter and Instagram and serve as a memory from a storybook season.

A few things to note here. First, the courage this man has must be admired. How many fans of a rival team would stand in line waiting amongst fans of the opposition just to get a quick photo? Surely this man shows a great sense of humor, because how could he have not been on the receiving end of a few jokes while awaiting his photo op?
Second, it seems the photo here would suggest this was all in good fun too. Odds are the Ohio State fans (and security guard, apparently) had at least some pity for the Michigan man, and tat is good to see too. Too often we hear stories about rival fans mistreating each other.
Lastly, while some may show some pity for this suffering Michigan fan, you just never know when you might have a chance to get a photo with a championship trophy in any sport. Take it from me, a life-long Philadelphia sports fan, that opportunity should not be taken for granted. If a championship trophy just so happens to be in your neighborhood, go and see it. You never know if or when that opportunity will arise again.
